GIRL CRAZY

This weekend we are at my parent's place in Kerrville. Saturday night was the big night. Free food, music, & beer for the taking!! I'm not a beer person, but I'll take the music.

As soon as Collin made it to the park Saturday morning, he had new friends. They made plans to meet at the pool and all swam together. Being an only child, this was great for him.

Collin always helps serve food and such at the big events. He did that for the longest time Saturday night and then he went off to play. I didn't really know exactly where he was, but knew he was in the vicinity. (The playground was right behind the concession stand.) Towards the end of the night I anchored him to the area draped with party lights. He ended up sitting on the dance floor, as close as you could get to the stage. Collin sat up there a while and then I saw two young girls get up from that area and move about 20' to the back of the dancefloor. Two seconds later, Collin and another little boy get up and follow!! AGH!!! I couldn't help but laugh when I saw him trailing after her.

When I was getting to bed I started to tell Ken about it, but Collin had proudly told him already. He told Ken he even danced with her!

Today they met at the park this morning and made plans to swim together. Ken took him down and they swam.

I can't believe my ten year old is already girl crazy!! I bet he gets her address in ElPaso!! lol

NASA

Last weekend we went to NASA in Houston. It was part of the ROTC end of year trip and we didn't have much time see everything. We'll definitely have to plan a trip back and also visit Moody Gardens in Galveston.

New Family Photo

The church is putting together a directory through Olan Mills, so we took a stab at it. We looked at our photos the night of shooting and I really didn't like the choices they gave us with backgrounds and such. I think that was the first time I didn't buy a picture taken by "professionals". The lighting was terrible ...my hair isn't black!! Anyway...here it is! Don't laugh!! It didn't turn out that bad. I just wish the selections would have been better. They should know they would sell more if they had better lighting and backgrounds. One was this brown yuck that looked terrible behind us. Maybe you pay extra for lighting in the touchup!! lol I know, I know...I'm just too picky!! Too bad I can't get picky about exercising!!!!

Take the Rate My Life Quiz

I guess the stress of my job really brings me down. I'm just not happy with it right now. I find myself unable to think clearly. My role has changed quite a bit since I started my job almost 7 years ago. Now I do scheduling, payables, receivables, invoicing, receipts, payroll, sales, & the book work. Every time the phone rings life changes. I need a way out, but am pretty locked in since the old man retired because I was here.

Anyway...how did you rate?

Camping in Goliad

We did a service project at the park. We, yes, WE replaced 8 of the railroad ties the boys are sitting on. It consisted of prying the old wood up, removing the rebar (18" in the dirt), leveling the surface, replacing the wood, drilling holes (originally with a manual drill- ha ha), and re-driving the rebar stakes. It was more than what we bargained for, but we all worked together.

Collin worked on his Outdoorsman badge this weekend. He & James cooked breakfast, lunch, & dinner for our families.

We camped in conjunction with the Boy Scouts our Pack normally feeds into. The Boy Scouts made a monkey bridge & invited our boys to try.

I was afraid Collin wouldn't be able to do it due to his height & fear of heights, but he surprised me!! He had to do some major stretching, but he did it!!

We had a great weekend camping!

Brad Paisley

Well, the concert was last night. We ended up with great seats & Collin sat 4 rows in front of us, to the right. We offered to let him sit on my lap or one of us change seats, but he wanted to be in "his seat". Collin & I enjoyed the concert, but not so much for Ken. I think I'm just more into music than he is.The first act up was the Randy Rogers band. They seemed like a rock band, just waiting for their big break. They'd be a great party band. Next up was Sara Evans. She did a really good job. Not being a big fan, I knew most of her songs.

Last but not least was the headliner.....BRAD!! He put on a really high energy performance. It's so cool to go see someone in concert that is a true musican!! He really got after it! Every couple of songs, Brad would change guitars. I guess everyone has their passion. Of course they had different purposes.
Now that I've seen Brad Paisley again, the only "musicians" I really would like to see are Ricky Skaggs & Vince Gill. Who knows when I'll get to see them!?!
Anyways it was a great show & would definitely recommend it to any fan.
On another note, it has been 5 years since I've been to a country concert. I was expecting to see people in clothes that could stand on their own. This wasn't the case. I guess we've made flip-flops acceptable just about anywhere, so life is a bit more casual. I didn't even see a lot of big belt buckles like we usually do in South Texas. Maybe all that is reserved for the George Strait concerts and such..just an observation.
